Get your hair cut and styled and make a difference.
How will it work ?
On January 24th, hair salons across the UK are participating in an event which will replenish the stock in foodbanks across the UK. How will it work? Salon owners and their staff are donating their time and services, offering hair cuts, blow drying, or whatever they want, in return for non-perishable foods. Working in tandem with their local foodbanks, the food will be collected the following day as a donation.
This is a high profile event and is on the radar of local and national newspapers. Already, the event has enjoyed radio time and press coverage. You could attract your own publicity locally, supported by our efforts at a national level.
This is strictly a non-political event. We know that there are many families struggling to feed themselves through no fault of their own. We also know that foodbanks across the country are at an all time low following huge demand over Christmas. This is our chance to make a difference locally. Please try and avoid any political statements…or even politicians during this event.
How can we help?
We will provide you with pdf templates for your staff room so that you can ask for volunteers on the 24th (if you want to set another date, feel free to do so!). We will also provide you with pdf files listing the food that the foodbanks will gladly accept. We will also give you a list of foodbanks in the UK, if you need this. Finally, we will give you a pdf of a poster for your front window so that you can let the public know of your involvement. In short, we will make this as easy as possible for you!
Your next step?
Simply contact us by email on firstname.lastname@example.org to register your interest. We will then post your details on the Hairstylists Against Hunger Facebook page as well as sharing this on DefactoSalons’ Facebook page. We will Tweet your involvement with an overall reach of thousands. We will post all participating salons on this website shortly, so you will also enjoy your name in lights here!
Good luck to all the salons involved so far!
