Matrix launches their new Biolage range, SugarShine and takes over Professional Hairdresser online.

Biolage SuperShine features five new products ready to guarantee you that “brilliant shine” everyone is looking for.

Matrix are a leading professional hair care and hair color company in the United States and are part of L’Oreal USA’s Professional Products Division. The brand was founded in 1980 by husband and wife hairdressing team, Arnie and Sydell Miller. Since then the Millers’ original ideas are still standing, and their brand is committed to the development of the salon professional, offering a wide range of hair care, hair colour and texturizing products.

The pre-existing Biolage Collection focuses on finding hair care products that work with and improve your natural hair type. Their current product ranges include but aren’t limited to: HydraSource for dry hair, KeratinDose for damaged hair and SmoothProof for frizzy hair. The SugarShine range is introducing five new products to this existing line. The SugarShine Polishing Scrub will aim to remove dulling impurities and offer your hairdresser an ideal base to work with, the SugarShine Shampoo will give your hair a thorough clean and the SugarShine Conditioner will give a silky soft finish. Both the Shampoo and Conditioner are silicone free, replacing the silicone element with sugar, which Matrix claims removes the build up of product that the use of silicone brings. The range also includes: SugarShine Illuminating Mist which provides up to 450 degrees of heat protection (that’s 230°C here in the UK!) and the SugarShine Mega Gloss Treatment, this is for professional use only and will provide a high gloss shine treatment.

The SugarShine Collection

During the launch of SugarShine Matrix are taking over a section of Professional Hairdresser Magazine’s website. So far there have been many features to this takeover. There have been guides on how to use L’Oreal’s Salon Emotion Programme (gives the customer a better salon experience and aims to boost your business by 15%) and even salon playlists. Hair experts Christian Wiles, Kieran O’Gorman and Jamie Stevens have gotten onboard and are offering insights into the benefits of these products. When quizzed on the desire for shiny hair Kieran O’Gorman said:

“Hair shine is so desirable because it represents healthiness. When your hair is healthy, it shines. Healthy hair makes you look and feel younger and women feel more confident and empowered when their hair looks good and glows.”

Ambassador Christian Wiles

Matrix Expert and SugarShine Ambassador Christian Wiles demonstrates how to achieve the perfect ‘Rise and Shine’ service with the products and explains why the professional product is his favourite from the range:

“The Mega Gloss Treatment is my favourite product. It is easy to use, easy to apply and, when used as part of the whole routine, the client will have up to three times more shine. I feel like it is the product in the range that really makes the difference.”

“Bright spark” Jamie Stevens

The products are an asset to both professional hairdressers and to their customers and a man who has been described as “Hairdressings brightest spark”, Jamie Stevens, tells Professional Hairdresser what makes SugarShine so unique. It’s easy to guess what it is:

“The sugar! Traditionally, shampoo and conditioner has used silicone to boost shine, but this adds weight and build up. By introducing sugar into the regime and taking out the silicone, Biolage SugarShine has changed the way we can achieve shine for the better. Sugar is a natural humectant that prevents moisture loss and buffs away dry dullness. Now you can reveal the shine rather than coat it.”

Matrix’s Biolage SugarShine range is affordable and apparently quite worth the hype. Is this a product you would be interested in?
