Six Everyday Beauty Uses for Coconut Oil
Wednesday, July 20th, 2016
Its summer and things are hotter and your hair and skin are drier. Yes, you could sink a load of money into products to try and save your hair and skin… or you could try coconut oil.
Its no secret that people are using coconut oil for whatever they can now, but you might not be aware how easily you can substitute a regular jar of coconut oil for multiple expensive beauty products.
So have a read at our Six Everyday Beauty Uses for Coconut Oil and see what you can substitute for!
Colouring, heating and over brushing your hair can lead to dryness, well before you even include a harsh summer sun. When you’re in the shower, warm up the jar under the water before applying it through the hair, focusing on the dry ends. Put your hair up into a bun and let it sit for at least 5 minutes before rinsing it out. Your hair should feel brand new and brilliantly hydrated.
Make Up Remover
Finding a make up remover that’s good AND affordable can be such a big ask. Garnier’s Micellar Water has been a huge hit in this regard but it can feel quite drying on the skin. Spreading a thin layer of coconut oil over the face will melt the make up off. Then all you have to do is rinse with warm water before proceeding with your usual cleansing.
On holiday, the sun, chlorine and seawater dry out the hair incredibly. Smoothing some coconut oil through your hair before heading to the beach will keep it hydrated, protect it from the UV rays and prevent drying as much as possible.
Its light, absorbent and moisturizing formula means that it’s an ideal moisturiser. Warming a small amount in your hands and spreading it over your skin will provide you with wonderfully hydrated, smooth skin. Just as good as any expensive body creams.
It doesn’t seem to matter what season it is, your lips still get chapped, guess what can solve that… just use the coconut oil as is and rub a small amount onto your lips and it’ll work wonders. You can even carry a small amount with you in an old contact lens case or an empty lip balm tin.
Shaving creams aren’t that expensive, but it seems like a lot of women’s razors are adding on moisture bars to exclude the need for shaving cream, but, this just adds to the price. Using coconut oil on the areas you shave will allow a close shave but also moisturise the skin at the same time. Like the hair mask, just warm the jar under the water and then spread over your legs before shaving.
Have fun duping the expensive products for something you can pick up in your closest super market!
